Let’s Make a Pumpkin Puzzle

Pumpkin is the word.

This catchy tune will help your kiddo learn to spell the word pumpkin and then reinforce the learning with a craft.

Let's make a "Pumpkin Puzzle"

I've loved doing puzzles ever since I was a kid and these puzzles are so fun to make. They fit easily into a snack size baggie and you can pop them into your purse for when you need to keep the kiddos busy.

Materials needed:

  • 7 Jumbo craft sticks
  • Green or any color of paint you have on hand
  • Brush or sponge
  • Painters tape
  • Mod podge glue
  • Pumpkin graphics (download here)
  • Number stickers, letter stickers, or a black sharpie
  • Craft knife

For the pumpkin puzzle, I used seven jumbo craft sticks because I wanted to spell out the word pumpkin.

Use painters tape to hold the sticks together. Flip over and paint the sticks

Cut out your pumpkin picture.

Using mod podge adhere the pumpkin to the sticks. If you’re using stickers add them now  or draw numbers and letters with a black sharpie.

Add a layer of mod podge over the whole puzzle.

Once dry use the craft knife to cut the puzzle into pieces.

Put in a ziplock sandwich baggie to keep your pieces together.

Homemade Ice Cream

Keep the kiddos busy in the heat with homemade ice cream. Then enjoy some ice cream themed printables from the Miz Daisy Entertainment FUN STUFF Library.

 

I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream. Who doesn't love ice cream especially on a hot summer day?  Use the simple recipe provided below and you'll have delicious homemade ice cream in less than 15 minutes. You can get even more creative by changing up your flavors and toppings.

This is also a great way to practice math skills when using measuring cups and measuring spoons. Want more ice cream?  How could you double the recipe?

Homemade Ice Cream

If you’d like to make a Father’s Day Award Craft, here is the list of materials you’ll need and step by step instructions to finish the craft.

Ingredients Needed

  • 1 cup of half and half
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 3 cups of ice
  • 1/3 cup of kosher or rock salt
  • sprinkles or toppings of your choice
  • small plastic bag
  • large plastic bag
  • optional: cup or bowl for ice cream

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Ingredients

Step 2: Add 1 cup half and half, 2 tablespoons of sugar and a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla to the small plastic bag and seal.

Step 3: Add 3 cups of ice to the large bag along with the 1/3 cup of kosher or rock salt.

Step 4: Place the small bag into the large bag and seal.

Step 5: Shake the bag for 5-10 minutes until ice cream is formed. The bag will be cold so you may want to use a towel while shaking the bag.

Step 6: Transfer from the bag to a cup or bowl and add desired toppings.

 

This would be a great activity for kiddos to do outside. Shake, add toppings, and eat right out of the bag!

DIY Hair Bow Organizer

Create this easy Hair Bow Organizer and never waste time searching for your bows again!

Are you tired of losing hair bows?  I was always misplacing Miz Daisy’s hair bows and wasting too much time looking for them and then I ran across this easy idea.

I love anything that helps me save time getting ready.  This organizer hangs on my wall in my clown closet.

DIY Hairbow Organizer

If you’re ready to get organized, here is the list of materials you’ll need and step by step instructions to finish the craft.

Materials Needed

  • Canvas (any size you choose- used is acceptable because it will be covered)
  • Felt, 1-2 two inched wider than the size of your canvas
  • Ribbon, a little longer than your canvas
  • Staple gun and staples
  • Scissors
  • Wire hanger, optional

Once you have all your materials, set up an area to get crafty.  The dining room table or your craft table is a great place. In the video above you’ll see me working at my kitchen table.

Instructions: Each step is super easy!

Step 1: Cut felt 1-2 inches wider than the chosen canvas

Step 2: Place canvas printed side down on the felt

Step 3: Turn felt undo to hide the raw edge and begin to staple every few inches on long sides.

Step 4: When you get to the corners treat is as if you were wrapping a present and turn the corner in and pull to make a nice corner and staple

Step 5: Once all sides are stapled cut your ribbon, position and staple to the back side. Trim the excess ribbon.

Step 6: Add wire hanger to the backside, load up your bows and hang on the wall.

Patriotic Necklace Craft

Create this quick and easy Patriotic necklace. The kiddos will love putting it together while they improve their motor skills.  When you're finished continue the fun with some patriotic coloring pages.  You can find them here in the FUN STUFF Library.

I love the 4th of July.  There are many ways to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy living in America. but one of the ways I love is with holiday crafts.

Kids will love making this red, white, and blue necklace and bracelet.  It's great for any Patriotic Holiday! It works their motor skills and it doesn't take a lot of time to have a finished product to enjoy.

Kids will like making them so much they'll want to make them in all different colors.

Patriotic Necklace Craft

If you’d like to make this necklace, here is the list of materials you’ll need to get started along with step by step instructions to finish the craft.

Materials Needed

  • String/Yarn/Pipe Cleaner
  • Pony Beads
  • Paper/Plastic Straws
  • Scissors

Super Easy Instructions!

Step 1: Gather supplies: see material list above

Step 2: Prepare the straws by cutting them into 1/2-1 inch pieces.

Step 3: Separate the blue pony beads.

Step 4: Cut a piece of string/yarn to desired necklace length.

Step 5: Alternate pieces of straws and pony beads in a fun pattern until the necklace is to desired fullness.

Step 6: Tie and Wear it proud!

For your bracelet cut your straw pieces a little smaller, create a pattern of straws and beads, and thread them onto the pipe cleaner. Measure around your wrist and twist the ends together to complete your bracelet.

Father’s Day Award Craft

Father’s Day is the perfect holiday to celebrate how much your father means to you.  Whether it’s your own father or someone who holds that special role as a father.

The holiday is an opportunity for you to celebrate the one you love.

I love getting crafts that have my child’s handprints on them.  Out of the stack of crafts over the years, it seems I always keep the ones with their handprints.

Father's Day Award Craft

If you’d like to make a Father’s Day Award Craft, here is the list of materials you’ll need and step by step instructions to finish the craft.

Materials Needed

Instructions: Each step is super easy!

Step 1: Print out the award at  https://mizdaisyentertainment.com/fun-stuff/

Step 2: Gather supplies: see material list above

Step 3: Have child color the award using their favorite crayons, colored pencils or markers

Step 4: Prep your child’s hands with paint using a brush or sponge and gently place their hands in the blank space on the award to create clear handprints.

Step 5: After the handprints are dry mount the award to a piece of colored construction paper using glue and put in a frame if desired.

Step 6: Don’t forget to put your child’s name and date on the space provided on the award. (In later years you’ll love to see how old your child was when the award was created).

  • If you’d rather not use paint you may trace your child’s hands and color them in or trace their hands on colored construction paper, cut them out and glue them on the award.

Once you have all your materials, set up an area to get crafty.  The dining room table or your craft table is a great place. The video above shows us crafting the special award on my craft table, in my studio.

THAT’S IT!

You can keep it simple by printing and coloring the award or level up with colored construction paper and a frame.

Either way, I’m sure the Father in your life will love it!
